Mobile Mark offers some practical advice: 6 ways different industries are incorporating 5G technologies We've all read plenty of ar cles about 5G. Massive data processing applica ons, such as real- me updates, streaming video, and emergency networks rely on 5G cu ng-edge technology. Wider frequency bandwidth and new 5G protocols mean that large quan es of data can be transmi ed at a faster rate. What does that mean in real life? How are different industries incorpora ng 5G technologies? Public Safety: Police Departments are relying more heavily on real- me video transmissions sent from the field. With 5G technology, these signals can be transmi ed with minimal lag and clearer images. 5G can also play a part when mul ple Police vehicles congregate to manage a public event. The Command & Control vehicle can offer WiFi connec vity among the vehicles with supplemental 5G transmissions to remote monitoring loca ons. Emergency Response: When wireless networks are damaged during weather emergencies, temporary networks can provide a (Ar cle con nues on the next page.) cri cal backfill for responders. Systems using advanced routers are able to accommodate more users and transmit faster than earlier set-ups. These temporary networks might be used ini ally by the emergency responders but can be opened up to the general public un l the usual connec ons are restored. Public Transit: Many Public Bus Networks are offering WiFi connec ons to their Passengers. A strategically placed antenna, with advanced MIMO connec vity, can improve the passenger experience. But there s ll needs to be an external connec on between the bus and the internet network. Upgrading to a 5G router and antenna solu on allows the system to accommodate more passengers and s ll achieve faster transmission rates. Industrial IoT: While many IIoT users will con nue to use 4G systems that can efficiently transmit smaller quan es of data, some users will opt for systems that give them advanced, high-speed coverage for occasional emergencies.
